Medical coverage in Canada for U.S. Resident

It's my understanding (could be wrong) that you will have to pay yourself and as soon as you get back to the states, you can submit to your insurance/medicare for a refund.

That would be a tough search even on google. I don't know what keywords you'd use.

Look carefully at your Medicare Supplement. Mine is a Premera F plan, also a "Blue" plan, and it will reimburse me for expenses in Canada up to a certain amount, which I can't tell you right at this moment. It depends on your specific supplement plan. Original Medicare, with a few exceptions, will not reimburse for care in Canada.

Otherwise there are travel insurance outfits which will provide the service if you think you need it. I prefer a medical evacuation policy, which will bring me home should the need for inpatient care arise.

'Visitors Coverage Canada' will get you in the ball park.

I did find something on Google, plugged in some info like ages, how many people, amount of coverage, deductible, etc and the price is fairly hefty. With a high deductible it is approx $500 per month per person for $20,000 max coverage and $2500 deductible.
Hoping somebody found a better deal than this $2,000 cost for 2 months for 2 people

You are wrong medicare will ONLY PAY for covered expenses for those on a DIRECT ROUTE to Alaska

When we visited I got a short term policy for my DW thru Seven Corners. They offered several plans to choose from. Certainly worth investigating. Now her supplemental policy does cover emergency services in Canada. ST
