Good point. Vagabundos had to intervene for our spring wagon master after he had an accident and problems dealing with the adjuster.
There are a couple of things that come to mind when I hear these stories.
One is that if you are through a broker the adjuster may not see you as their customer. Whereas if you had a direct policy they may be more accommodating. Many millions of Mexicans are having insurance claims every year and I am sure they are not all being cheated by adjusters.
Secondly I often wonder how many of those that are having these problems actually speak and read Spanish and have a feeling for the cultural niceties of how to deal with business matters.
In some of these cases a broker is probably worth the extra money. I am not Anti-Broker. But my long experience of living and working and doing business overseas tells me that I will always be able to live cheaper and have better service and understand much more by dealing directly with local companies. I have also learned that there is a built-in protection system for businesses that act as Fixers, brokers and such and a lot of misinformation gets thrown around.
What the true facts are regarding the broker issue I do not know yet. But I do know how to find out.
