Mileposts.

Planning trip next June.

Are there actual mileposts on all the roads in Alaska as indicated in the Milepost book ??

    Not necessarily. In addition, even though the mile markers shown on the roads can be found in the Milepost, they do not accurately represent the actual road miles you will see on your odometer. In some cases the roads have been re-routed so mileage is shorter, or longer, and the distance between points is not necessarily what the small mileposts along the highway would indicate. Just to make it more interesting, the little signs and all distance signs in Canada are in kilometers not miles.

    DITTO! We just spent 7 months on the road between Ft Worth-Alaska-Ft Worth and found the Milepost to be the most useful of all. We had Churchs' book also but very seldom used it.

  • Yes, however they may skip some as the road has been relocated from the original route.
    The Milepost has been changed accordingly.
    Lots of ads in it. There is other books that help. Alaska Highway by Tricia brown is one.
