Missoula to Cascade Lake 12-13 to 95 idaho

Will be pulling a 34 ft travel trailer with a 250 Silverado. I can see that 12 and 13 are quite curvey , which is the nature of the beast for mountain driving. How is this route for adequate shoulders on the road and elevation changes? Thanks in advance for any info.
  • I came from Idaho side over Lolo pass 2 months ago. Many potholes and ruts on #12 on Idaho side from winter wear and tear. Really Nice Scenery on this whole route. Enjoy a safe trip.
  • Like another poster said 13 is winding and a bit narrow but very doable. I do it quite often with my 34 ft. 5"ver and have never had a problem. Just take your time.
  • We've driven both those routes with our FW and both are good. As in any narrow road, we stay to the center line. Hwy 12 is wider than 13 in spots, but very similar.

Here's the website for the highway webcams in Idaho. Hwy 12 is listed, 13 is not. Harpster Grade is on Hwy 13 and is long and winding but doable, it's not steep, but doable.
