if I spend 2 weeks going through mexico, can anyone tell me the right way to have cell phone service? i'm with Verizon

- Buy a TelCel SIM card for 26 pesos, put 100 pesos on it with no plan, and you are golden. It also covers many other countries. They are available literally everywhere. Check their website.
- Call Verizon and have Mexico added to your plan.
- A dumpster grade cell phone a TelCel chip and an spot AMIGO 200 plan is all a person needs. I accumulate hours and hours of USA and Canada phone calls on a throwaway AMIGO two hundred peso plan (not a contract).
Verizon this and AT&T that is an expensive waste of time IMHO.
When you're done seasonally, give the phone away to some young teenager. You'll be a hero. Longer than six months without use I think the chip gets neutered by TelCel. - If your phone has a SIM card that can be changed, why even buy another phone when all you need is the card? And, unless you are calling the US and/or Canada, no plan is necessary. Just buy time.
He is only looking at 2 weeks..... - Hey MEXICOEANDER how do you neuter a phone, do you cut a couple of diodes out or a couple of capacitors, we had our dogs and cats neutered but I am curious as to neutering the phone?
