I am planning our summer vacation trip for 2018 - which will be two weeks long next July. We live in Austin, TX and want to visit Montana - especially Glacier National Park. It is a long haul from Austin. We have driven 500 mile days but more than two of those back to back is a little rough. So I am looking for ideas for one or two day stays in Wyoming and Montana on our way up to Glacier. We have visited Cheyenne, Cody, Tetons and Yellowstone before and would rather stop in places we haven't been before.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
2,000 miles - 4 long days - hoping you are working off a 3 weekends and an early departure on Friday?
Look over this Route - In July a couple days in Ouray and the San Juan's will help to recharge your Hot Tired BatteriesThis route with Ouray or Dino NM as stops coming or going, Thinking Ouray on the way up and Dino on the way down, Ouray will cool you off, after getting out of Texas - and Dino will warm you up after leaving Glacier.
I'm not an expert on Camp Grounds as they generally are just a place to plug in/shower/dump. So never really remember many Camp Grounds, unless the view is just great Like the CG's on the Green River in Dino.
Hope this helps - long drive but sounds like you are used to the exercise.
Best of Luck,
