On the other end of the spectrum, be prepared for colder weather at nights especially around end of Sept to Oct. We just returned from a two week trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone. We were there from Sept 14 thru 25th. First week and half lows were in the 40's, at the end it was 30's. After we left the lows dipped to a consistent mid to upper 20's. Beautiful daytime weather though!

Not really, we spent the entire summer and most of the fall in the Rockies - I’d try to extend the trip another 4-6 weeks so as to catch the Aspen in Colorado and the Buffalo round up in the Black Hills/Custer. There is just so much to see and do you will be exhausted trying to do it in 7 weeks. (JMHO)

This year was unusual with the Covid travelers in season - and the season extended and I’m thinking it will again this next Summer also. In talking with many ‘New” RV’ers they all seemed to like it and many will be part of the larger group that now wants to RV. Point is Summer will likely be really Crowded meaning doing less and working harder to get it done.

So work hard on the schedule - slow down to see and enjoy more and certainly add more time.

We just returned from a two week trip to our favorites: MT, ID, and WA. The weather was fine, and a little warmer than some years in the past when it could have been light snow in the mountainous areas of MT. The big advantage is that traffic was light and that was nice especially in Yellowstone NP and Glacier NP. Only disadvantage was that some of the stores in Yellowstone and Glacier were closed for the season so you should check on campground availability within the parks, private CG's outside the NP's were open. The fall colors were fantastic including the aspen, larch, and the wheat fields of MT and eastern WA. It sure pays when you can travel in the shoulder season.

Being from Idaho, those months can be really hot, especially in Idaho. Late August to mid-September is better.

Yes. IMO, those are the best months to be in those states. Maybe into early September too.

If you are coming from East Texas as we are, this would be an ideal time to get away from our heat and humidity.

I would not limit my travel to the Rocky Mountains to these dates, but I expect they may ideal for this whole range of states. We just got back from Colorado (early September) and, if anything, felt that was a bit early.
