What's the fastest route? 331 straight south to Santa Rosa or 231 to I10 W then south to Top Sail?

We take I65 to exit 114. Then take AL55 all the way to Florala, AL where we pick up US331 for the rest of the trip. Find this to be faster than taking the two lane roads right out of Montgomery.
