Moving To Zihuatanejo!!!

We started traveling in Mexico in 1982. Traveling in a 1967 VW Squareback and a tent, we explored Baja and were hooked. We soon purchased an oil field office/5th wheel trailer and parked in at Brisa del Mar in San Jose del Cabo. What a deal!!! In 1989, when things became civilized there, read one 9 hole golf course had grown into three 18 hole courses, we sold and needed to find another place to go.

We bought a Robin Hood RV, and started exploring not only the mainland of Mexico but Guatemala and Honduras. Fabulous, and no tent!

In 2012 we sold the Robin Hood and bought a Safari Trek. Great move. We continued to pursue our winters in Mexico and the ruin sites.

We think we know a lot more about Mexico that we do of the US. We love the warmer weather and the warmer oceans.

Oceans are our thing, and finally we realized that we were spending almost 6 months a year in Mexico. Then, last year, we realized that we had spent the last 10 winters rushing to Zihuatanejo, spending 6 months, and heading back to California. It was time for a change.

In January 2017 we decided to look at moving permanently, something we had always known that we would do eventually. We looked at a lot and a house on Playa la Ropa and chose the house. We wanted a large lot so we could play in the dirt and the dogs could play, BUT it had to be within very easy walking distance to the water with our surf/paddle boards on a daily basis.

We agreed to an offer on Valentines Day (perfect!) and our house closed in July of 2017.

We kept our minds open, and decided to bring the RV down in October and make a decision as to which beach would be our primary residence: our Southern California Beach or our Mexican Beach. On the way down we made up our minds.

It took us a month in the RV to get the house dog safe and people habitable. It's wonderful.

We left Zihuatanejo March 28 2018, hoping to be back within 3 months. We did it. Sold the house, RV, VW, and everything that wouldn't fit in the 8 foot cargo trailer pulled by a Durango, both plated in Guerrero, Mexico. Yes, we drove separately both ways, not a lot of fun.

We arrived two nights ago, tired, happy, thrilled and knowing we had made the right decision. We'll sell the trailer and Durango, we don't need anything with a 5.7 Hemi engine anymore.

Many/most of you have probably seen or talked to us. We have always traveled with at least one weimaraner and been friendly. We'll continue traveling in Mexico a lot, but in hotels mostly.

When you come to Zihuatanejo, contact us, and we'll make sure you have a great time in paradise. I will continue to be the moderator of this forum.

I'll post, soon, details about our trip down that will make everyone's life easier! Jane and Ray
