Myrtle Beach to Niagara Falls

Thinking of a trip in the late spring from MB to Niagara Falls - incorporating a visit to Cooperstown, NY and the Baseball Hall of FAme in the process. Will be traveling in a 33'MH with toad. Any suggestions on which route to take there and back? ANy "Must see" or "Have to avoid" places? Where to camp along the way? Have set aside about 2 weeks for the trip and don't want to have to hurry. Thanks.

  • The most obvious route is up I90 but that goes to all the places I like to avoid, like Washington DC. It's a dense route with lots of traffic. From MB I like to go a little west and go straight up the Shenandoah Valley from around Winston Salem. When I did that I would basically find my way right up to just barely west of Buffalo NY. That's essentially at Niagara Falls. From there you can go east towards Cooperstown, along I85 or there are routes to take just north sticking along the lake, or farther sound, hitting Seneca to visit the Corning Glass works, Watkins Glen is a great town, all sorts of neat places along there.

  • Your signature says "Young Retirees" depending on what kind of shape you are in there are a few places in PA that may be of interest. Ricketts Glenn State park (20+ waterfalls with a slightly strenuous hike, will take a few hours), Bushkill Falls (A few waterfalls with a lot of steps to see them all), Camelback Mtn Resort (Do the mountain Coaster!), and there is always Hershey Chocolate World (How can you go wrong with chocolate?). Google away for locations.
