Some good resources listed about. Just remember that all those resources are advisory. They are only as good as their source data and may not have the latest construction information.
The only times I've been concerned about width was an unmarked bridge construction in Oklahoma. We were traveling with friends in a 40' Monaco. I went first across the bridge with temporary scaffolding limiting the width. My truck tow mirrors are 8 ft 9 1/2 inches from outside to outside. They didn't scrape, so we knew both rigs would pass through. The hassle was unhooking and re-hooking the TT to test the clearance. The bridge came into view after three miles of narrow barricaded approach, so backing out would have been a multi-hour project. Lucky it was on a Sunday and we never say another vehicle.
