OK, so just a quick update on the Nogales crossing with a pre-organised 10 year TIP for a truck camper.
We crossed and first were stopped by customs just across the border looking for the usual contraband. Carried on to KM21 and stopped first to the immigration office for the FMM. Then to the bank to pay for it. Next was the aduana. I showed then my documentation, the window sticker that had been mailed to me and they showed me the door, not interested as their work had been done. During the application process they had charged my cc and had a copy of my passport.
There was not a problem with the vehicle being a truck camper, why would they, they have an option on their self service website with this as an option. The VIN was for the truck which is now classified as an RV as far as the aduana are concerned. I did remove the jacks before crossing in case there were questions.
3 days later we were stopped by the Federales and they asked to see my paperwork which they duly inspected and cross checked with the vehicle particulars. No problem from them whatsoever.
The only question that remains is that I saw mentioned while crossing the border that the TIP last only as long as the owners FMM. We plan to leave the vehicle in Mex while visiting Cuba in November, upon our arrival back to Mex we will be issued with another FMM so time will tell.
Thanks for all your responses, for me, I would recommend the internet option to get your TIP, saved hassle. Having said that, the Nogales border was one of the easiest land borders with a vehicle I have ever crossed, and I have crossed many!
