Be sure to spend a night in Bishop in the RV park behind Schatt's Bakery. Breakfast there is a treat not to be missed. If you have time to go a little farther South on 395, Manzanar is a place all should visit once.

We will go down from Beatty and come out 395. Have a good time.

Scotty's Castle CLOSED until fall 2021.
Flooding in Grapevine Canyon from a severe thunderstorm has destroyed the road to Scotty's Castle, damaged infrastructure and some out-buildings in the Castle complex.

We are headed to Death Valley in a week or so. Going down US395 CA 136/190 into valley, leaving via CA 373.
All routing subject to change!

I just came from there. Some of the roads are still in bad shape after the heavy winters the few previous years. Saline Valley was rough.

As of about 2 weeks ago the long-term "closed" sign was still up.

Scotty's Castle is CLOSED until further notice due to flood damage, and is not likely to re-open to the public until 2020. All entry to Grapevine Canyon and Scotty's Castle district is currently prohibited.
