Thank you jmtandem! That's what we thought but wanted confirmation. My husband wanted to go Hwy 50 but decided it was too desolate!
Highway 50 is much more scenic. It was once known as the 'lonliest road in America' but today there is much more activity and traffic. Fuel on US 50 should be secured during daylight hours as the towns are small and often fuel stations close for the night. I would not travel the road at night as it is not fenced.......dark cow on a dark night on a dark road kind of thing. But, otherwise it is much more scenic and interesting but slower. There are some climbs but it is totally RVable. And most of the locals are friendly.
