Here is an example of 2 lane road slow down for you. US-50 from I-65 east for 20 miles to North Vernon, Ind. has 4 construction zones, with 2 stop lights, a lane shift and a stop sign. All of these are 40 mph zones. Not all completed till sometime in early '14. But then they will be working on I-65 from US-50 junction south towards Louisville also.
I got caught up in that mess last Sunday when going to Seymour. - SuperchargedExplorer

I respectfully disagree. There are reasons to hit the interstates. If you're constrained by the length of your vacation. If you've been to your destination (like Yellowstone) so many times, starting back when interstates had not yet been invented.
That being said, on one of my trips to YNP from Cincinnati, I was headed west on I-80 when I approached exit 201 in Iowa. The sign said "What Cheer". I couldn't resist. 20 miles south, I got my answer - not much. Didn't see another vehicle moving on the entire 40 mile round trip. I apologize to any "What Cheerians" I may have offended.
If you don't have the time for a good long trip, then one should look for another job where you would have the time. Everybody say I don't have the time. But then won't be able to go anywhere. Traveling is far better than work. And I'm very happy to see you went to Cheerians. - CroweExplorerTake whatever road you durn well please-just do it safely!
- pauljExplorer IIFor a while, as a kid, we lived in Cedar Rapids, and visited grandparents in Mpls. On the way we stopped at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. I made that stop once as a adult. Now you can get half way close to that by driving divided highways (the Saint (Louis) to Saint (Paul) corridor).

You should have gone just a little further south and taken Hiway 92 across Iowa. You could have seen John Waynes birthplace and the bridges of Madison County. Pretty state if you get off of "the slab" - john_betExplorer IIHere is an example of 2 lane road slow down for you. I use Interstates if I trying to get from A to B as quick as possible, no Stoplights/Signs, no kids on bicycles, no manure spreaders at 5 mph, no school busses, or crossing guards, although there are times I like the back roads too. ;) - JamesBrExplorerDepends on the destination for me. Heading to the blue ridge, its a mix of lanes. Heading up to Luray I stayed off the interstate. Heading to FL in January from DC. Interstate all the way to find some warmth for my vacation.
