I'm starting to plan for a trip out east next May or June, there'll be three or four campers ranging from a 38 foot fifth wheel to a class B PleasureWay, if all comes together.We are looking for suggestions as to where to go and what to do, what to see, what to avoid, where to stay and where to stay away from.I think I'd like to go through the Gaspe, see Cape Breton, Peggy's Cove, Halifax, Yarmouth, Digby, St. Andrews.So, bring the suggestions on!Tim & Jo

Fortress Louisbourg A fantastic reconstruction.Hopewell Rocks Bay of Fundy has the highest tidal range in the world.We visited NB and Cape Breton 1st half of June 2008. Definitely before the busy season. No reservations needed. Check opening dates for campgrounds for a May visit.

I've heard Meat Cove is spectacular, but I'm afraid I wouldn't want to tow our 38 foot fiver there. We went 'round the Cabot Trail a few years ago and I remember some hairy turns and steep grades!

If your friends have not gone east before then it would be a shame for them not to travel the cabot trail. Lunenburg is a lovely area. Are you thinking of going to PEI or Newfoundland?

Maybe PEI, but surely not Newfoundland - too little time.

Do the Cabot Trail...You can base camp at the KOA up there and take the tow vehicle around. Thats what we did anyways.

Agree about doing Cabot Trail before Newfoundland.

Why? Well, it's one of those parks done when the Federal Government was taking out what had been done by folks who settled there.

Then go to Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland see how much better it is when history, settlement,culture, and..... get included with natural terrain.

& look out for over capacity in the gov. campgrounds Cape Breton is one place where the private cgs tend to be better.

Agree about Lousibourg, Meat Cove, Lake Bras Dor, Rita's Tea Rooms.

Remember highest tides on the planet are between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and between Maine and New Brunswick. Think Grand Manan Island.

A lot depends on your time frame. You need at least 4 weeks week without Nfld.
Hopewell rocks should be very high on your list also P.E.I..Lots of nice forts all over the place. Go online and get a travel book from each Province and they high light areas to see.Pass port america was very useful on our trip there

St Andrews is beautifull, we were there in August. Campground right on Bay of Fundy and you can walk to the town.
Hopewell rocks very touristy, and crowded.
Town of Alma on the coast by Fundy National Park is nice, you can watch the boats unload their catch while you eat supper.
We spent 3 weeks in New Brunswick and came back thru Maine.
Beautiful scenery, and friendly people everywhere we went.

The campground in St Andrews 301TBS refered to is The Kawanis Ocenfront Campground http://www.kiwanisoceanfrontcamping.com/

Reserve in advance if you want an oceanfront site. The sites are all serviced and set up so you can back in or pull in frontwards if you want an oceanview out the front window.

Lots of great restaurants within walking distance.

If you are in the Fredericton NB area try Hartt Island RV Park. They have riverfront sites.
