New Cuota around Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Heading south from Tulum, we noted signage for a new cuota around Felipe Carrillo Puerto. It worked well.

Stayed at Bar Familiar last night. Food was good and inexpensive and you stay for free if you eat (Churchs' book mentions it)

We are spending night in Villahermosa at "El Gordo y San Pancho" (also in Church's'). Manager said they have seen a lot of Canadians, French, Swiss, and Germans but no Gringos

    We lived in Puerto Rico for a number of years and there were lots of discussions about what Gringo means and where it originated. Lots of opinions. Tracing the facts it came down to a word used a very long time ago in Spain meaning anyone whose native tongue was not Spanish. Everyone puts their own spin on it but as near as I can tell that is where it came from.

    Discussed the Gringo appellation with Canadians in Yucatán and they basically do not want to be confused with those of us from USA. And old saying is that you can tell the Yank backpacker from the acanadian, the Maple Leaf on the Yank's is bigger

    Gringo is a term for any foreigner.....

    Do you mean people from the US?
