That's a bit prideful. We've done a lot to prevent spreading rabies through our pets, but we aren't nearly as good as Mexico at it.
Per the AVMA, the U.S. had 4,454 cases of rabies reported in 2017. Of these cases, 62 were dogs and 276 were cats.
In comparison, Mexico had 150 reported cases or rabies with 3 being dogs and 4 being cats.
