- AlabamaTravelerExplorerWe were just thru there in June. Had no problems with our 33ft 5er. Happy camping..............
- bobjogoneExplorerGo to http://www.visitwhitemountains.com/visitor-center/ for the Lincoln - I93 side of the Kanc.
They have a brochure request - that will provide you with some great maps.
We are full time RVers who volunteer for the White Mountain National Forest and drive the Kanc 3 days a week.
http://www.fs.usda.gov/whitemountain
http://www.mtwashingtonvalley.org/ is the Conway, NH side of the Kanc.
If you have a Senior Pass, that works for parking in the Forest.
Best bet is to find a campground and then drive around. Campgrounds in the National Forest do not have services (most have water available not at specific sites). But there are plenty of other campgrounds around. - doughereExplorerThanks All for the info. We are looking for scenery, not just trying to get through, sounded like a nice ride.
Wrong Lane,
Thanks for the heads up. We are planning 3 to 4 weeks in the area, and can easily plan around it.

We're planning a Sept/Oct trip through Vt and NH, Rt 112 looks to be scenic but maybe pretty twisty. How is the road for a small 5er between I93 through the mountains to US 302 (we're planning to head to Mt Washington).
Thanks,
Doug
Doug,
it is a great ride..we did it last year with a 43 ft and 31 ft motorhome towing jeep cherokee ..just not a fast ride but not a bad ride.....
if you have problems with campgrounds...there is a new one-2 yrs old - in Alton,NH..called Turtle Kraal......nice wide open sites good rodes to get in and out....50 miles to Old Orchard beach...35 mins to Portsmouth - Wrong_LaneExplorerIf you are planning to be in the North Conway, Mt. Washington area at the end of September or first week of October you need a reservation. There is a giant country fair in neighboring Fryburg Maine (fryeburgfair.org ) on at that time and the place is normally sold out for the entire week. You would even have a hard time finding room at Wal-Mart that week!
Nice area. Check out the Conway Scenic Railroad. They do a fall colors trip through the mountains that is worth the fee. - wtmtnhikerExplorerI agree, no problem. I travel that section on 112 with my 37' 5ver. There is a long steep grade leading down from the height of land but if you take it slow and easy you'll be fine. There is also one hairpin turn but it's easily negotiable. Take the time to pull into the turnouts to enjoy the scenery and let any cars pass you by.
- mguayExplorerNot a problem with your 5er on The Kank. The first week of Oct is about peak foilage and it will be beautiful.
- SubVetExplorerThere are scenic pull offs and campgrounds. You should be fine. However if you just want to get across to 302 there are easier routes.
- RoadpilotExplorerThat's the Kacamagus highway.and it's beautiful. It has some twists and turns and elevation changes, but it's doable and well worth it.
- CroweExplorerThat is the Kancamagus Highway. Yes, very twisty, sharp turns, not really RV friendly. It can be done-we've seen it-but I don't think it will be fun.
