If you were further south in NJ, then the Delmarva route to the bridge-tunnel would make sense. Otherwise, it's a long slog down, and you've got to get the NJ Pike in there somewhere (UGH). I've taken the I80-I81 route, but picked up US 50 in Winchester to US 17 to re-connect to I95 just north of Fredricksburg. The US50/US17 part is very picturesque.
