We are going to Newfoundland in May-June and want to spend a couple of nights boondocking. Anybody know of a few good places in the Western part of the province? Terra Nova is as far east as we are going.

We went a few years ago and did the west coast from south to north, up to L'Anse aux Meadows. We did boondock just about anywhere we liked and never been bothered. Especially in May, I do not think there are too many campgrounds open. I do not remember the exact spots, but it was not a problem at all and we only used a few campgrounds in 3 weeks travel. We also boondock just beside the fery in Sydney. NF in not very populated and people are very nice. In May you will be in the Iceberg season I think. We went in July and never seen any, but if you go north, you should see them. I would like to go just to see it.

Thanks for the responses. I love the gravel pits song. Yes, we are going to St. Anthony for the Iceberg Festival. Our previous trip to Newfoundland was in July and August and we missed the icebergs, that is why we are going so early this year. Bringing my long underwear.

FYI, we did the day ferry/port aux basques and when we landed we didn't have a heck of a lot of time before darkness was going to be upon us so we ended up in Doyles. They have full hookup but next time we would boondock...thought snow was in the air and the unit was new to us so we weren't sure how it would perform.Pull over and find a spot for the night...anywhere.
