I get a kick out of the subtle humour that shows up in those Newfoundland tourist ads...........such as the scene where a couple of people are walking two dogs across a field. The two dogs are a Newfoundland and a Labrador. How appropriate ?
Or the line that goes " there are more dialects spoken here than in any other place in the world ".
Or the guy wearing the cloth over his head, pretending to be a horse ? Isn't that a mummers get up ? Do they still do that on New Years, go round as mummers ?
Or " A place that has been invaded by the Dutch, the French and the English " I didn't know about the Dutch bit ?
In any case, I think that Newfoundland and Labrador does a GREAT job of advertising their unique place and culture , to the rest of the world.
I served with a number of Newfoundlanders, in the Canadian Forces, and they are great people to know, even at 3am when its pelting down rain and sleet, and we still have hours of work still to get done. Lets have a song, bye.
Great soldiers, the CF wouldn't run without them.
