Newfoundland

Well, we are finally off to Newfoundland on Monday, May 27. I would like to thank those of you who have supplied support and suggestions over the past year as we planned our trip. This is our first trip with the 5th wheel and we are both excited and nervous. I will be monitoring this site so all comments and suggestions are still greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ed
  • Bullwinkle used to hang out around the Viking Settlement. He was huge.
  • :S

We don't plan driving early or late in the day. We have moose in NS but in 53 years I've never seen one in the wild. Not in NB either. In 1990 (my only other time in Newfoundland) I only saw 1 moose. That moose was huge.

Be very careful when you drive, especially later in the day or right early in the day. In my years living there, I certainly was grateful to the moose who came up out of the ditch and ran down the road in front of me, rather than any other direction.

This pic was sent to me. I didn't take it.

    ;)

  • Hello all, If any one needs any advice or general questions on Newfoundland please contact me. The moose at least in Gros Morne are at the lowest numbers in quite a few years since the cull in the last couple years. In the later part of May or early June keep a eye out for the caribou as they are still down low.
A few changes for Gros Morne are,The park wardens are now going to enforce camping in non designated camp grounds, parking lots, rest areas, western brook parking lot and so on this is a mandatory court appearance and the park pass is now a mirror clip pass so they can check parking lots with out having to hike the trails.
  • Little Kopit, we plan on being in St Anthony for the Iceberg Festival so hopefully we will see icebergs.
  • Have a great time! We're already thinking about when we can go again.
  • Enjoy...and watch out for those moose. We seen 155 of the beasts during our visit of 4 weeks in Mid May to Mid June a few years ago.
This is our favorite place to RV bar none in all of the USA and Canada.
Coming from the perch capitol of the world...I am sure you will enjoy the crab legs and lobsters.
