NM 64 Cimarron to Eagle Nest Condition

Question

Howdy,We are leaving on our annual trip to Red River, NM soon. We typically take NM 64 from Cimarron over to Eagle Nest, which had a fire roar through there not too long ago. Has anybody driven this since the fire and the highway reopened? If so, how is it? Thanks.

I just drove thru there on Monday without incident.  There was a sign warning of potential flash flood danger since the vegetation cannot hold the topsoil as well, but that was all.  It was sad to see the burn area east of the state park.

Drove through at the end of June. Other than flash flood warning signs all was good. We were pulling a 35' 5th wheel.  Went both directions with no issues.  Nice scenic drive for the passengers. Greg

We're in Eagle Nest. It's Monsoon season with afternoon downpours that prompts? NHP to close 64 for a couple of hours due to flash flood threat on 64 to Cimarron.

Come through before 3 p.m. and you should be fine.
