Much of the information above is incorrect. Cars are and recently were nationalized at Nuevo Laredo. These are 2006 and 2007 which are registered in the US (not Canadian registered vehicles). The numbers are small and costs up somewhat as in $1500 to $3000. If in doubt call as below.

Sonia Diaz has nationalized 87 vehicles and several pending with Aduana. These are 2009 and older, NAFTA made, both American and Canadian registered and none were required to go to the border. the furthest they went was to a local OXXO for a photo proving vehicle is in Mexico. These vehicles from numerous parts of Mexico and once nationalized the owners obtained state plates and registration.
