At/near Winnipeg - Bird's Hill Provincial Park. It's about 10-15 minutes north of the perimeter and a wonderful park. They enlarged the beach for last season and it's very nice for families, but a bit of a walk from the campground. Many paved and unpaved walking/biking paths. Yet, close enough to Winnipeg that in a short time you can enjoy what others have posted to do in the city. I also 2nd or 3rd RMNP, beach is not the greatest, but the town and resort atmosphere makes up for it. Many sites for full service and electric/water are booked, so maybe check that out on their website for approximate dates you might be there to see what's available. I see they are doing work improving service to campsites this summer too. In Sk., I 'v heard that Prince Albert National Park is nice, as well as the previously mentioned Cypress Hills. Enjoy your trip, some may say the prairies are flat and boring, but there is plenty to see along the way!
