Just read your basecamp route,
sounds interesting - couple of thoughts from when we have driven these areas. Need to understand that I will go out of my way to drive in the Mountains and I Love to drive them, so keep that in mind when reading my reply.
I love the drive from Ogden on Rt 39 into the Mountains - used to drive it in the winter to ski, and have always wanted to - but have not yet done it - drive it thru to Woodruff and Rt 16, so that might be an option, if you are up for the adventure.
Flaming Gorge - Green River and Rt 530 would be my choice pretty drive and more to see along the west side of FGNRA We enjoyed the Marina CG on the water and that might be an option.
Next is Dinosaur NM will always try to stop there as it brings back so many early memories, firs time I visited I was 8 and those Bones are just amazing, also the option to stay on the Green River CG would be special.
Then if you have been comfortable with the drive so far Rt 64 to Rt 13 would be fun.
Then the easy/straightest choice would be I-70 and Rt 24 to Woodland Park.
But there is one more adventure that you might enjoy after Rifle get off and head to Carbondale on Rt 82 (take the time to visit Maroon Bells) Taking Rt 133 to Redstone and Marble (4x4 to Crystal Mill) and on around to Black canyon of the Gunnison NP - to Gunnison (side trip to Crested Butte) - then to Salida - up to Buena Vista and then grab Rt 24 to Woodland.
Having done this trip a couple of times I would say that every mile is a Memory, just Beautiful. BUT I also love the Minturn - to Leadville route.
