Oil change facility in Anchorage

I am planning to head north to Alaska in late Spring/early Summer of 2017. It will be a little over 3,000 miles from my house so I am looking for a recommendation for a place in or near Anchorage where I can get an oil change filter and lube for a gas engine Motor home. Sometimes it is hard to find a place with bays wider than 9 feet and higher than 12.5 feet. Any recommendations? Thanks.
  • I used Wasilla Lube Express for my 5,000-mile oil change and lube (different TV than I now have). Very busy, but took me right in when they saw my Colorado plates. I was out in half an hour at no more cost than a similar oil/lube in Denver. Seems like they had big bays that could handle trucks and RVs, but you could check with them in advance just to be safe.
  • ^Not mutually exclusive to AK.
As said, Anchorage/ER/Wasilla is one big city pretty much. No problem finding an oil change.
And throwing it back up here due to the excellent service. Any mechanical issues around Eagle River, go to S&P auto. Great, fair, competent shop.
  • In 2015 I used Jiffy Lube and I wish I had not. I wish I had just left and went to Walmart and got an oil drain pan and did it myself and even haul the used oil back home to recycle.

They charged me $65 labor, it was my filter and my oil. They did check and fill windshield fluid, vacuum the cab and check the air in the tires.

They removed the back wheel covers to check the air and when I fueled up in Tok one back wheel cover was gone. Maybe they did not get it on good enough or it was just time to go.

Next time I will have what I need and do it myself.
  • Great info. Thanks so much for the feedback as to where to get an oil change for RV mysize. Good tip on the oil filter. Just did some preventive maintenance this week by installing a new fuel filter and buying a spare belt. We RV'd in AK in 2004 without a toad. Big mistake. Can't wait to go back in 2017 with the toad.

There's so many oil places and truck shops in Anchorage that you're not going to have a problem at all. Take a filter with you in case you wind up at one of the larger truck shops that doesn't have filters for a gas engine.

^^^ This. All the places mentioned in the earlier posts work just fine, just make sure whatever Johnsons Tire location you're looking at is really open. . Most of the big truck shops (Cummins AK, KW, Peterbuilt) will also squeeze a MH in if they're not slammed with working rigs at the moment.

  • When we went up in 2015, we used the Jiffy Lube in Anchorage for the oil change on our Ford E450.
  • I used Johnson tire in 2015.Big shop appeared to be well run.
I have 32' class a. I really fell into it, I actually went there for a tire issue and that day they were doing free oil changes.I think it cost me about 60 bucks for the whole shooting match.
