I-84 is not particularly scenic across southern Idaho unless you like potato fields. However, north from Boise to Lewiston is a beautiful trip. The highway crosses the Snake River very rugged country then climbs Whitebird hill, the site of a major battle between the army and Nez Perce. Alternatively, you could go north then west through Glacier NP. So much to see and do, you won't cover it all in one trip.
