I just came up the AlCan, via Osooyos port of entry and Ft. Nelson to visit a friend, and am parked at my daughter's house in Anchorage. It was miserably cold the entire trip. Dumped the water tank in Ft. Nelson to keep it from freezing and we hit a whiteout snowstorm between Watson Lake and Teslin. I've done the drive 8 times now and this was the most reasonable time of year (end of April versus the normal November & March) and the worst weather ever.
Left Bullhead City, AZ on April 22, got new tires in Las Vegas on the 23rd and left there on the 24th. Arrived in Anchorage on May 3rd.
I want to head south via the Cassiar, which will be a new route for me, and I had hoped to leave in October but I never, ever want to drive the RV through winter conditions like the ones I just went through, so I may have to change my anticipated travel dates. It's still almost freezing here in Anchorage at night.
