STRANGE CASE ,
JUST THINKING OUT LOUD, maybe a piece of gravel in one of the conglomerations
of pulleys ,pumps and things on the front of the engine, or IN the alternator ?
if you can remove the serpentine belt , start the engine , and the rattles and squeals are gone, that would just about eliminate anything wrong with the engine itself, then you could check each pully on the engine for looseness, wobble ,or seizing up , and fix or replace which ever component is failing.
but if it was a piece of gravel , and it has fallen out, then every thing will check out fine .
I found the title to Dads 67 Bronco in the glove box while on the trip we took to Alaska back in 1970 and asked him why he had brought it along. He said his Dad told him it's a good idea to carry the title whenever traveling more than a days trip from home in case you need to sell or trade it along the road because you never know when the beast might go belly up on you.
Hope it turns out to be something simple !! :-)
