I know some of you have raved about the drive from Dawson City to Chicken, maybe you were in a 5th wheel, cause it sure wasn't fun in our big motorhome. We had not planned to take it, but kept reading about how great it was so decided to do it. I understand the road from Destruction Bay to the border was bad - so can't really compareIt can be difficult to judge a road based on someone else's experience.
My opinion: One (at least me) needs to drive slower from Destruction Bay onward and especially from Beaver Creek to the border.
Got a long crack in the toad windshield yesterday (driving from Beaver Creek) in spite of the cover on it! So much for the $140 I spent on it in Watson Lake prior to the cover.
BTW the worst section of the Alaskan Highway for us was the Canadian Rockies. They certainly lived up to the name with not miles but days of rocks on the highway.
However we rate the Alaskan Highway as OK with a thumbs up.
