I was in Valdez 9 years after the earthquake and the only parts left of the old town were the streets. The only other thing in the old town was the pipe for the Alaska pipeline stacked neatly in-between each block of streets.
They were still building the new town, so the motel was almost new. Now it's nearly 50 years old!
And the 1964 quake is still the second biggest earthquake ever recorded anywhere on earth.
