We cross into Alaska today on the "Top of the World Highway" probably in Chicken tonight.
We are doing this trip as amemorial to old friends who traveled here several times and have passed on. Their first trip was before pavement in a Ford Ranger with a shell camper.
QUESTION: Their journals mention "Scullys" several times and we can not find it. The only thing we know it waas north of Carcross and probably south of Tok (or in Tok). Does anybody know where Scullys is? Has anybody ever heard of Scullys?
Thanks,
Mike
Wonder if this refers to Scully who lived/worked at historical mile 1118 on the Alaska Highway. We called it "eleven eighteen" in decades past, but it was also known as Kluane Wilderness Village. There was Scully's Saloon and world famous burl bar. Scully made wood bowls from burls, and he created some amazing other stuff from those burls too.
Scully is no longer there. The lodge is sometimes open, sometimes not. Mostly not.
