Made it to Homer . Heritage RV park space 3 until Saturday.
We're in Kasilof at the Crooked Creek RV Park until Saturday. We spent last night at Kenai Nat'l Wildlife Refuge's Hidden Lake Campground. Didn't get any wildlife photos because we stayed inside the trailer most of the afternoon. An hour before we got there, the site behind ours was raided by a "nuisance" young male grizzly. He tore up a screened enclosure over a picnic table to get to the canned pop that the tent campers had left on the table. He also followed a couple walking back to their RV from the lake as they were carrying their fish home for dinner. Apparently he hasn't been aggressive yet, but the ranger said he doesn't appear to be at all afraid of humans--and that isn't a good thing.
Today was laundry and grocery shopping day--first laundry day since we saw your 5'er and Janet's MH in Valdez. Coin-op laundry in Soldotna was an absolute madhouse and there were so many RVers camped at Fred Meyer, we barely had room to park just to get groceries. I now know that, when the reds are running in the Kenai, avoid it! I probably knew that, but the problem with getting old is that I sometimes forget those hard-earned lessons of 20, 30, or 40 years ago.
Tomorrow we plan to drive the truck down to Homer just for a long day, then back here. Hope the weather is as nice as today because I want to get photos of the volcanoes over on the Peninsula. If one would only go off tomorrow, I could really get some good geology action photos!
