For those on the Cassiar, only bad part of the highway for us was the 20-mile stretch north of Dease Lake. We stayed at Bear River a few weeks ago when we were in Stewart-Hyder. OK park, but lots of mosquitoes when we were there. Also a lot of big mining trucks left the yard across the road at 3:00 am.
Be sure to visit the high point above Salmon Glacier (23 miles from Hyder). The view is one of the best of the trip-if you aren't "glaciered out" yet!
Are the bears finally at the Fish Creek viewing platform? We were disappointed that they weren't when we were there, probably 7-10 days too early.
