I know that lower fuel price in Canada is an oxomoron but bear with me! We'll be headed down in about 2 weeks. If we go to Prince Rupert that will add about 300 miles.
Just an FYI re: Rupert. if the sun is shining in Rupert, it is a beautiful area to visit. On the other hand..if it's raining/cloudy/foggy? meh...
There is a wifi hotspot in Kitwanga, just before the bridge, go left to the totems and park. You could check the weather from there. eh.
