I was also wondering when in September we need to be heading to the lower 48? First time here and don't know what to expect. .... Should that be a safe plan if we leave AK after Sept 15 or so??
As Sue stated, the weather in Canada (even Tok, on the way) can be unpredictable in September. I really don't want to drive in snow or ice, but I'm committed to staying in Anchorage until the 21st. So, I'm just going to take it slow and pull over and park if the roads are icy.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a frost-free trip. Having lived in Alaska for 35 years means I can drive on snow & ice, but that doesn't mean I want to do it in my RV.
I'd love to travel with anyone else headed out at that time. I plan on getting a CB and retrofitting the RV with an exterior temperature thermometer so that I know if it's freezing outside.
