CA Traveler, Thanks for the heads up about the Cassier. Was dealing with the road worth the trip? We are thinking of heading South on it in another week or so. We are also thinking it may be a bit late to view the bears. We have seen many bears this trip, a couple of times closer then we wanted but seeing one fish has alluded us.
This trip has been fantastic and we are already planning a return trip, however after traveling the upper yukon this past week we are also ready for some smoother roads.
We wish everyone safe travels, bright skys and fair winds.
Sure we tried to see the Hyder bears but didn't go out of our way as we saw others fishing previously in Alaska. However others saw 2 wolves at the fishing setup and we weren't there. But stuff happens and we spent 15 minutes idling along the road next to a black bear that was feeding on the vegetation on our way to Salmon Glacier. Salmon Glacier was impressive because we were close, above it and looking down. It certainly didn't hurt we had rain before and after that day and sun for that trip. It again rained that afternoon so we missed the wolves - darn it!
