I certainly agree that the Cassiar is a better road than the Alaskan Highway from Tok to Destruction Bay. But as I posted from our travels a week ago:
Cassiar Highway Condition: There are no shoulders on this highway. The southern end is in good shape. As you approach Iskut there are no longer lane lines and the road becomes a series of gravel and frost heaves with slow travel. For 50 miles north of Dease Lake the road is in better shape. For the next 50 miles it is worst and the last 50 miles before the Alaskan Highway are rough.Diesel in Iskut is $1.60 while Dease Lake was $1.42. The one station in Steward has a 12' 6" roof. Diesel at 1 & 37 was $1.59, no doubt lower in Watson Lake but the cost would have been a wash considering the mileage to Watson Lake and back.
