Oregon FS 39

I am going to be in Halfway for a week and am toying with the idea of driving FS 39 to Wallowa Lake. I toured the road on my bicycle about 20 years ago. I remember the hwy to be narrow with many blind corners. I'm not sure I towing my trailer down this road is a good idea. Has any towed a trailer on this road? If so, how was it?
Thanks.
  • I'm thinking I'm going to take it. I'd like to show my son the scenery through there. Drop the trailer off at Wallowa lake and make the trip to Hat Point.
  • I did it 10 years ago in a car - starting from the Joseph end - actually no I took gravel roads to the Hat Point overlook first. So the pavement of 39 was a step up. But the state highway, 86, if not wider, did have the full set of lane markers. It was, and probably still is, just a paved forest service road, more or less 2 lane (not just one lane plus pullouts).
