Oregon route 42

We will be driving down Oregon 101 to Bandon, then planning to cut over to I-5 on Hwy 42. Anyone driven this route? Will be pulling a 25' TT. Thanks for any info.

If you north from Bullards Beach for about 5 miles.....you will see a sign for East Berryhill Road. That road is wider than 42S and drops you right down into Coquille.

I believe you mean East Beaverhill Road. That road is good but it's very steep. Honestly if anyone can't drive 42S with their rig easily, then they should really think about a different hobby. The road is wide 18 wheeler s use it every day logging trucks use it and they don't even cause a back up. It's a very good road except when it's flooded. Then not so good. Have a safe trip.

  • Thank you all for your replies. We are looking forward to the trip. We will be staying at three state parks (Umpqua, Bullards Beach and Cape Blanco) over a two week period. Thanks again all. Safe travels.
  • 42S is a bit narrow (at least for our motorhome), but doable. I drove MH from east to west. Enjoyed the scenery so much, went back in the car so I could see it again while a bit more relaxed.
  • Drove it for many years.......it's fine for towing anything. :) When you get to Winston, check out the Wildlife Safari......it has its own appeal. Not as big as the ones in California.....but hey, it's in Winston!

As for Fiverwheel saying another route is beautiful......IMHO (as a native Oregonian) ALL roads in Oregon are beautiful!!!!! :B
  • From Bandon take 42S to Coquille then on through Myrtle Point to 5. Good road and a beautiful drive.
  • Have done it a number of times with my trailer. You shouldn't have any problems.
