Lead in the water is not as tragic as it sounds. Up until a few years ago copper water line was joined by solder with lead. Water main connections from the street to the house often had lead pipe. Well pumps had brass components that leached lead up until the mid 90's.
Many of those pre '95 pumps and copper fitting water lines are still in service yet there is no discernible epidemic. Except in Michigan - and that's mostly politically driven.
Just like formaldehyde in Katrina RV's - those RVs were built like our RVs, yet once an issue becomes an agenda it takes a life of its own.
I've got a mouth full of fillings, all made with mercury - yet any degree of mercury in tuna or switches or batteries is thought to be deadly.
