As a followup...we arrived today at Ocean Waves CG. We came from Ohio via I77, I40 and US64 and it was very nice. Very low traffic, only a few 5% grades that were mostly downhill and short. Found a nice new campground for the night before near Williamston that was only about 2 hours out from OBX. Got into NagsHead about 12:30pm on Sunday and flew right down US12 with no traffic at all. Now for 11 days on the beach!
