Overnite parking in Flagstaff, AZ

Hi guys...

Traveling westbound in I-40 in a couple weeks...like to stop for the night for sleep in Flagstaff.

I found a news article that Flagstaff city council was considering allowing overnite RV parking in commercial business parking lots, if the owner was OK with it. But I haven't found any updates.

Has anyone parked overnite in Flagstaff recently?

Thanks...

So whats so unfriendly about Flagstaff?
  • There is a new Indian casino (Twin Arrows) about 15 minutes east of Flagstaff. They are allowing overnighting for RV's.

  • The truck stop in Belmont is a Pilot and it's not very big. You would have to get in there early and hope you don't get backed into because trucks will be backing in from all directions in there.
  • What about the Flying J truck stop in Belmont, 8 miles west of Flagstaff? Don't most have overnight parking available?

Try to get a few blocks away from the railroad if you can. This is major East-West railroad and there will be a train about every 5-minutes it seems all night long...
  • If you don't mind stopping about an hour earlier, there's a nice rest area just before the exit for Meteor Crater. I overnighted there two nights in fall of '09 due to being semi-windbound. I also spent one night in the EB side on the way back.
