The route looks good but I would go north from Nelson to Balfour, much better drive along the lake than Hwy3 and you get to take the "longest free ferry ride" from Balfour to Crawford Bay, rejoin Hwy3 at Creston.
Good provincial CG just south of Balfour, Kokanee Creek. Or if you want hook-ups try Birch Grove a bit further on.
If you have time it's a good lakeside drive north and back to Kaslo to go on board the SS Moyie dry docked there.
