Ever try and fight a traffic ticket in the USA? The entire protocol has been meticulously designed to discourage pleading not guilty. Paying of the ticket before adjudication REGARDLESS of the plea-entered. Multiple court appearances. This is pure unadulterated and unconstitutional REVENUE ENHANCEMENT. Budgets are life and death in towns and counties over budgeting-in, ticket revenues.
I have fought and beaten many traffic tickets in the US - even had the judge suggest talking to the DA before pleading - DA in the courtroom - leave the courtroom to another room to talk with the DA a couple minutes and come up with a plea of taillight out instead of speeding - lower fine - lower points - back to the judge - OK - out of there. Also beat many others to no fine and no points. One day of a couple hours in court and I save my license. I don't mind paying if I was guilty - which I was - as long as the points stay down and my license is intact.
