raise by around 10 centavos a year
I believe it was 10 centavos a month? Actually I think it was 11. But insignificant difference. But it went up every month. And my comments don't really have anything to do with the US but how this burdens the people of Mexico who cannot afford it. It is not only the price of fuel but how that figures into the price of goods since all goods are transported. My concern is the people of Mexico. It is not my problem - it is theirs. Even the rip off oil companies in the US lowered prices. Pemex should do the same. Industry in Mexico is growing by leaps and bounds so they should find other ways to raise revenues to the Gov't besides screwing the little people who can't afford it. Same old song and dance no matter where you go or when you go since time began.
And it was/is not my intent to compare to/with the US. I merely bring up that the international price per barrel goes down and much of the world lowers the price at the pump - but not Mexico. Yes I know why. That does not make it right.
As far as roads and bridges or whatever in the US - I couldn't agree with you more. The way they have cut spending on so many things is just a crime and they certainly should not be reelected. Don't want to get into politics. Years ago I was on the board of directors of a very small road associations on dirt roads in the mountains of Colorado. A real learning experience. I was a founding member of the association and on the board for over 20 years. What this taught me was a lot about human nature. The ideas people came up with to spend money or to save money were beyond belief. The ideas of the repairs that should or should not be done. The accusation of residents in the area who never went to one single meeting or had a clue what was going on would come up with the wackiest ideas. 54 property owners were in the association but there were close to 150 property owners. Many would not join or pay though they used the roads everyday. But enough of that. I get it.
What I do not get is how Mexico set a fair price for the people for so long and then changed that whole idea. But I don't get into those politics either. Just don't get how they can do it.
In the US the roads etc. are supposed to be taken care of by a fuel tax for the federal roads - 18 cents a gallon fed tax - states vary from very low to very high. Pols are all terrified to raise the 18 cents since around 92 - even though everything else goes up and up. So roads crumble and bridges fall down and they do nothing. And that is the tip of the iceberg. But that is the US and not Mexico and since it is politics we do not bring it up here.
