Mostly trucking industry. Importing goods from China.
I think every major car company in the world is building or has built new multi BILLION dollar manufacturing plants in Mexico in recent years - not to mention Freightliner, John Deere, Caterpillar, and many others. Near Monterrey we saw the aluminum wheel company with literally hundreds of US semi trucks waiting to load the wheels for the US. We see maquiladoras by the hundreds everywhere we go with new ones being built daily. Did anyone hear The Donald say he was going stop the $2 BILLION Ford plant? The Donald doesn't seem to know he is way too late on that one. We saw a huge plant that makes glass for cars a bit east of Queretaro. The list goes on and on and is beyond comprehension or my very basic knowledge. Industry and manufacturing is huge and growing at an enormous rate all over Mexico. Does anyone know Mexico has trade agreements with countries all over the world so things produced in Mexico do not pay tariffs or taxes on goods imported to those countries? Even goods produced in China have to pay. Ford or whoever can ship all over the world and sell cheaper because the products do not have to pay the duties they would have to pay on goods produced in the US. A car produced in Mexico can costs thousands of dollars less overseas than a car produced in the US due to Mexico's trade agreements. To talk about this further here would get political and we are not allowed to do that here.
