Pensacola/Ft. Pickens CG

We will be driving in to Fort Pickens CG in Pensacola from Hattiesburg, MS. What is the best/easiest route to get around Pensacola proper to get out to FP road? We will be towing a 5th wheel.
  • Thanks again! Will definitely print this info. to help DH on the road!
You are officially my GoTo source for Pensacola!
  • Here's a travel hint......coming south into Hattiesburg on U S 49,
on the north side of that city, take I 59 south to your right.
Pass Hattiesburg on its west side. You will come to
an exit to U S 98, on the right side of I 59. Take that,
(it crosses over I 59 to go east)
and it's four lane until near Mobile. Get into the LEFT
side of the highway to get off to the LEFT to go RIGHT/South
onto I 65...........after a few miles, be in left lanes of I 65
to exit onto I 10 east to Pensacola......go through tunnel,
no toll, no restrictions...........keep speed up as much
as possible for the climb out of the tunnel.
  • Perfect info! Just what we needed....and from a native, too!!
    Thanks a million, Norm!
  • Come into Pensacola from the west on I 10. Turn south in
Pensacola on I 110, This ends after the downtown area,
    and becomes a multi-lane street U S 98 for a few blocks to a
    left turn....... cross a
3 mile bridge (watch fuel level) into Gulf Breeze, still on
    U S 98. After a few miles, at sign, turn right/south
to Pensacola Beach.......cross bridge ($1) onto island,
at a commercial area..........hotels, restaurants, public
beach...after a few blocks at sign turn right to the road
to Fort Pickens (7 mile, no businesses or houses)...watch fuel).......take
in what you need, it's a 7+ mile trip to stores, back
across the bridge. The island restaurants are FINE.
The campground is good......so is the old fort.
P M me for more information.
